Ovcharenko Institute of Biocolloidal Chemistry NAS of Ukraine popup.description2 The project is devoted to electrokinetic phenomena in natural micro / nanofluidic systems formed by hard and "soft" phases, micro and nanosized cavities filled with liquid (clays, soils, sands). The focus of the project is electroosmosis through such systems and the phenomenon of electrosmotic dispersion - a sharp intensification of the transport of solute at a sufficiently large electric current through the system. It is planned to study these effects for model systems (synthetic clays) and natural soils. The research will be conducted in order to apply the results in technologies of electrokinetic remediation and bio-remediation of soils. It is also planned to characterize the components of model and natural micro / nanofluid systems by electrophoresis and to interpret the data using the latest theory. To achieve the goals of the project, the research team brings together specialists in the fields of electrokinetic phenomena, capillary hydrodynamics, remediation and bio-remediation of soils.
