Purpose: to analyze the legal, social and cultural preconditions for the development of alternative dispute resolution in Ukraine and Lithuania, in particular, on the example of arbitration and mediation institutions, from a historical perspective and in a comparative aspect, based on analysis of national doctrine and case law. The scientific novelty of the results obtained in the research process is that: the study of alternative dispute resolution during the international seminar is systematized; a comparative legal approach to the analysis of Lithuania's experience in the introduction and development of arbitration and mediation is proposed, which is based on their comprehensive research by specialists from both countries (Ukraine and Lithuania); the legal, social and cultural preconditions are characterized as sufficient for the development of alternative dispute resolution in Ukraine and Lithuania; in-depth study of alternative dispute resolution. New editions - a collection of scientific works of participants of the international seminar are presented and prospects of their use in the subsequent scientific researches, educational process are discussed.
