The purpose of the study: to develop guidelines for assessing the interaction of economic and environmental spheres based on the account of material flows as a necessary prerequisite for maintaining ecological balance and improving the quality of life of the population. Research methods: statistical-economic, abstract-logical, monographic, calculation-analytical, index, balance, system, structural-functional and comparative analysis, etc. Main scientific results: the importance of the natural environment in the system of components of human quality of life is substantiated; the purposes and tasks of the international systems of ecological and economic accounting concerning material streams are generalized; the components of the system of formalization of stocks and flows are determined; the principles of accounting for resources and use of material flows are substantiated; the classification of materials in economic accounts of material flows and the basic rules and principles of the system of keeping accounts of material flows in physical terms are determined; methodical approaches to the formation of the table of resources and its use are substantiated; the tables for drawing up of accounts of the account of material flows in Ukraine are defined; a description of the movement of biomass as one of the key components of the system of accounting for material flows in the economy; formed a system of concepts and basic terms for domestic accounts of material flows (for example, biomass); approaches to determining data sources and compiling biomass flows are substantiated; the structure of domestic accounts of material flows was formed.
