The research method consisted in checking the effectiveness of the developed method of chemical purification in the measurements of radioactive contamination of the obtained sample using ultra-low-gamma spectrometry with HPGe detector. Main results: 1. An effective method for chemical purification of neodymium oxide powder Nd2O3 has been developed. 2. A sample of Nd2O3 of high purity with mass of 2.5 kg was created. 3. Preliminary measurements were performed of the sample with HPGe detector with a volume of 518 cm3 in an underground laboratory (3600 m of water equivalent), which confirm its high radioactive purity and suitability for use in a long-term experiment to find a double beta decay of 150Nd to the first excited 0+ level 150Sm.
