Registration Date 26-12-2020 Organization Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of NAS of Ukraine popup.description2 Based on molecular genetic analysis of 90 accessions of C. quitensis from 11 populations from the Argentine Islands region using retrotransposon based iPBS PCR markers, the main indicators of genetic diversity of the species from the study region: average pairwise Jaccard distances between plants of individual populations ranged from 0.059 to 0.446, the Shannon index ranged from 0.084 to 0.204, and genetic diversity ranged from 0.071 to 0.204. According to AMOVA, the share of differences among populations in the total genetic diversity is 48%, which indicates a fairly high level of intrapopulation polymorphism, given the limited size of populations and their island location that could lead to greater divergence. A cluster analysis based on a matrix of Nei’s genetic distances between populations showed that the genetic relationships between C. quitensis populations are generally consistent with their geographical origin.
