The generator is built on a circuit with an inductive energy storage, which uses a high-voltage inductor (Rumkorf coil). The generator provides an adjustable pulse frequency of 70 ... 500 Hz, with a voltage amplitude of up to 300 kV at a current amplitude of up to 4 A. Tests of the generator when creating a plasma discharge over the water surface. It is shown that such a discharge provides effective water purification from chemical (chloroform, etc.) and bacterial contaminants. The problem of purification of drinking water and especially wastewater from bacterial contamination is currently not completely solved. The report presents the results of the application of bipolar plasma discharges above the liquid surface for water purification from bacterial contamination, as well as the identification of a possible mechanism of water disinfection in a model of destruction of erythrocyte membranes. The treated water contained the following bacteriological contaminants: Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Candida albicans. The initial concentration of microorganisms ranged from від 5105 до 1,5109 CFU/ml. After plasma treatment for 10–20 minutes, a decrease in concentration of 103–108 times was observed. Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans completely disappear after 20 minutes of treatment. Plasma treatment of a suspension of erythrocytes in water destroyed their walls. The absorption of a solution containing hemoglobin from broken erythrocytes was measured compared to the control. The results show that a possible way to remove microbes with cold plasma is to damage their cell membranes. Product Description popup.authors Kyslytsyn Oleksandr P. Okhrimovskyy Andriy M.
