It was found that the molecules of N-(2-ethylhexyl)-benzo(k, l) xanthene-3,4-dicarboximide in the concentration range characteristic for wavelength shifters do not form aggregates.By a combination of physico-chemical and spectral-luminescent properties N-(2-ethylhexyl)-benzo (k, l) xanthene-3,4-dicarboximide are suitable as wavelength shifter for a new class of polysiloxane based optical fibers.
