The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of carbon-containing smoke nanoparticles from natural precursors on the intestinal barrier and susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disorders in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and nonspecific ulcerative colitis (VC) from contaminated and agricultural regions of Ukraine. Research methods - functions (Isc, Gt, permeability) of the epithelial preparation of the colon of Wistar rats in vitro in the Ussing chamber; survival of Colo 205 cells; clinical trials per 100 patients with NEC and 150 with SEC: (1) from industrial, ecologically polluted regions (Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk regions and the city of Kyiv); (2) from predominantly agricultural, ecologically clean regions (Chernihiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Poltava and Kyiv regions); statistical analysis of the obtained results. Nanoparticles of smoke from Betula alba (B1) wood, Betula alba (B2) bark, poplar wood (C1), pine wood (P1), pine branch (P2), peat (PES) dose-dependent (80 μg / ml, 30 μg / ml , 15 μg / ml) affected the survival of Colo 205 cells. C1 was the most toxic, B2 and P2 the least toxic. B2 <B1 <P2 <PES <P1 <C1 increased paracellular permeability (marker FITC-dextran, 4 kDa) of the epithelium of the colon of rats in the appropriate sequence. The number of patients with early onset of NEC and the frequency of common forms of NEC was higher among the affected industrial regions of Ukraine. In industrial regions, the frequency of men with IBS was higher than in environmentally friendly areas.
