The aim is to establish the processes of formation of yield and sowing qualities of chickpea seeds depending on the application of herbicides at different times of their application in the conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine. Research methods: field, visual measuring and weighing, laboratory, mathematical and statistical, computational and comparative. As a result of the task, the elements of the technological process of chickpea cultivation were improved, namely: the use of herbicides at different times of their application on the dark chestnut soils of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine. It was found that the use of herbicides on chickpea crops affected the growth and development of plants and, as a consequence, the formation of seed yield. Optimal conditions for the growth and development of chickpea plants in the Southern Steppe of Ukraine were developed with the use of Merlin – 0,13 l/ha (Factor A - herbicide), when the average yield of crop seeds, on average, was 1,49 t/ha. With the use of Stealth – 2,5 l/ha and Imi Vit - 1,0 l/ha, this figure was 0,26 and 0,08 t / ha, respectively (NIR05 – 0,.06 t/ha). The highest average yield, by factor B (term of herbicide application) – 0,74 t/ha, established for the use of herbicides in chickpea crops after sowing (NIR05 – 0,18 t/ha). The maximum yield – 1,54 t/ha was obtained on the variant where the herbicide Merlin was applied – 0,13 l/ha after sowing the crop. In the control variants, the highest average seed yield – 1,61 t/ha was obtained in the control variants 2 (manual weeding). The maximum conditionally net profit – 16,4 thousand UAH/ha at the lowest cost of one ton of seeds – 7351 UAH and the highest level of profitability – 145,0% is set for the option using the herbicide Merlin – 0,13 l/ha after sowing.
