Results obtained suggest that γ-type phospholipase D isoenzymes are involved in polyamines action in cells of Arabidopsis thaliana by activating lipid second messengers leading to plant tolerance to salt stress. It was shown that peptides SCOOP 2, 7, 12 evoke the most prominent production of reactive oxygen species in Arabidopsis thaliana suspension cells. Peptides SCOOP 7 and 12 are also characterized as the highest inducers of phosphatidic acid production in Arabidopsis thaliana suspension cells.
