In the competitive variety testing, a promising breeding high productivity material of chickpea – 1.56-2.34 t/ha (+0.16-0.94 t/ha, or 111.4-167.1% to the St.), resistance to pathogens, in particular root rot (5-6 points), drought resistance (5-7 points), tolerance to high soil acidity and increased harvesting technology (resistance to lodging 7-8 points), were picked out. The Octavius common chickpea variety (Cicer arietinum L.) was created and submitted for qualification examination in the system of State variety testing (Application No. 20028001 dated 16.11.2020). A database of economically valuable features of the parent and perspective selection material of chickpeas – lines with a complex of morphobiological and economic features in the amount of 17 samples was formed.
