Research objects: model groups of hymenopteran insects (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae, Chysididae, Bethylidae, Dryinidae, Embolemidae, Crabronidae). The main aim of this work is study of morpho-functional characteristics of the ovipositor and its modifcations (sting) and the life-strategies ichneumonoid, chrysidoid and apoid wasps (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonoidea, Chrysidoidea, Apoidea) as the key factors of high species diversity of the target insect groups/ Research methods: field research; laboratory experiments; In-house methods. Main results and novelty: Collyriinae, Diplazontinae and Ichneumoninae distribution in the Ukrainian Carpathians is studied for the first time. Three recent Ichneumonidae species and several fossil Chrysidoidea taxa are described, including: one Dryinidae subfamily (Raptodryininae), 6 genera and 21 species of families Dryinidae, Scolebythidae, Sclerogibbidae. New data on protected Megarhyssa species distribution in Ukraine and Romania are obtained. The correlation between previously established phylogenetic relationships and the structure of cocoons in some Chrysididae taxa is shown. It is established that the chrysidids cocoons structure reflects both adaptations to life in the nests and cells of the hosts, and the phylogenetic position of the wasps. Several morpho-functional features of the European hornet's sting are described and it used as outgroup in comparative morphological study of the sting of apoid wasps, resulting in three phylogenetically significant features identified.
