Research objects: model groups of hymenopteran insects (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae, Chysididae, Bethylidae, Dryinidae, Embolemidae, Formicidae, Encyrtidae, Eulophidae, Crabronidae). The goal of the project is to work out a holistic concept of the biodiversity growth, development, loss and restoration patterns in the past and the present forest and forest-like ecosystems, using Hymenoptera as a model group. We also aim to demonstrate the value of Rovno amber as the priceless source of information about the biodiversity of the past and, at the same time, as the threat to modern biodiversity due to uncontrolled mining Research methodology: filed research in Polissia and Carpathians; laboratory experiments; molecular analysis; in-house methods. Main results and their novelty: The materials of the model hymenopteran groups, which have been collected on the territory of Polissia and Carpathians during previous years are studied; the preliminary taxon lists are prepared; Polissia is found to be poorly studied; based on examined comparative materials from the other regions of the world the most appropriate colleting methods and need in new materials are determined; several fossil taxa of Encyrtidae and Formicidae are described or re-described; the biology of Ceranisus menes (Walker, 1839) and morpho-functional characters of the sting structure of six Apoidea species of Polissia are studied.
