The purpose of the work is to determine its local specifics on the basis of a comprehensive study of the traditional material and spiritual culture of the Chernihiv district of the Chernihiv region. Also it is to identify archaic elements, to find out the current state of ethno-cultural traditions. The field collection of ethnographic, folklore, art history and linguistic information are the main research methods. In particular, through surveys, observations, interviews, audio, photo, video recording and processing of collected materials, from the point of view of synchronous, typological, complex, comparative-historical analysis. In 2018 year, a comprehensive study of the material and spiritual culture of the affected villages of Chernihiv region was conducted. During the expedition, 27 and thematically 9 settlements of Chernihiv and Horodnia districts of Chernihiv region were comprehensively surveyed. During 2018–2019 years, 320 hours of audio recordings of historical and ethnographic information were deciphered. More than 7,000 photos were certified, and 22 hours of video recordings characterizing the life and way of life of the surveyed areas were deciphered. For the first time in Ukrainian science, a regional comprehensive historical and ethnographic study of the Chernihiv district of the Chernihiv region is carried out in various thematic areas (ethnographic, folklore, art history, linguistics). It will become a source base for further comparative analysis and generalizing works on the traditional culture of Ukrainian Polissya.
