The range of variability of the activity of CO2 assimilation in the flag leaf in winter wheat varieties was almost 54% under optimal watering and 290% under short-term moderate soil drought. It is shown that the increase in grain number per spike in modern high-intensity varieties amplify the demand for photoassimilates and increases the significance of high activity of photosynthesis during grain filling for the yield formation. Photosynthetic traits in the period of grain filling correlate most strongly with grain productivity and are most accurate physiological markers for winter wheat productivity. In the field experiment, new varieties created by the IFRG of the NAS Ukraine, Horodnytsia, Kyivska 17 and Pochayna with higher efficiency of solar radiation use and grain productivity were noted. It was found that soil's drought inhibited the formation of symbiotic systems of soybeans, depending on the functional and adaptive capacity of microsymbionts, as a result of which the number and weight of nodules formed on plant roots under insufficient watering decreased compared to plants grown with optimal moisture. It was found that new strains of B. japonicum PC09 and B157, which have the ability to increase the production of exopolysaccharides in pure culture, formed more drought-tolerant symbiotic systems, characterized by higher nitrogen-fixing activity with low moisture supply and in the period watering restoration.
