The aim of the work is to develop scientific materials science bases of structural engineering for three types of the latest high-intensity ion-plasma surface modification technologies at different levels (base without thickness change, base with thickness increase and thickness change due to multi-element coating) to obtain high mechanical properties. critical for the efficiency of materials in general and special engineering. Research methods - metallography, X-ray diffractometry methods, X-ray fluorescence elemental analysis, measurement of physical and mechanical properties, scanning and high-resolution scanning electron microscopy. The results of structural engineering are based on the use of newly developed methods of 3-level ion-plasma modification of the near-surface region. For the first (basic) level of modification, high-density ionic nitriding (base - modernized Bulat-6 installation) was used in constant and pulsed mode with long-range diffusion as a result of subsequent heat treatment. The second level of engineering - modification of the base with increasing thickness (multidirectional modification), was provided by an improved method of plasma-electrolytic modification, which will provide the formation of high-strength compositions "high-strength ceramics - plastic metal base". Deposition from strongly ionized plasma was used to ensure the 3rd level of surface structural engineering.
