V. Ya. Yuriev popup.description2 Object - winter rape. Purpose - to develop a scientifically sound method of the breeding of F1 winter rape hybrids for different uses. Methods - field and laboratory methods, processing and analysis of obtained data. Method: The main method in breeding is multi-stage hybridization with donors of economically valuable traits and subsequent individual-family selection, with due account for combining ability. Winter rape breeding only uses short-stem plants. The optimal plant height is 100-130 cm. To create such varieties and hybrids, donors of dwarfness with recessive polygenic and dominant monogenic determination of this trait are used. Transmission of dwarfness and other valuable traits is achieved through saturating crossings with subsequent homozygation and selection. Practical results. In 2016-2020, new starting material was created and investigated. There were 38 lines created by intraspecies hybridization, 12 lines derived from mutants, experimental hybrids derived from fertility restorer VF46. Winter technical rape variety Eksponat and winter food rape variety Kharkivskyi were created and submitted to the state qualifying examination. Original sterile form, Mutant-RS, was created. It differs by genetic markers from the Ogura- and Polima-types sterility. We created 8 fertility restorers for the Ogura-type sterility and 13 sterility fixers for the sterile Mutant-RS. Winter food rape variety Rodolad was included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine. A patent for the invention "Method of Creating a Sterile Rape Form" was received. Methodical recommendations "Creation of Rape Hybrids" based on original studies of MCS in rape, self-incompatibility and creation of intervariety hybrids were developed.
