Purpose - to develop theoretical principles of genetic/breeding methods of creating a fundamentally new starting material of confectionery sunflower and to justify the use of these approaches in the breeding practice through creating adapted to growing conditions hybrids that combine high performance with raw material quality desirable for the confectionery industry. Methods - field, laboratory, statistical. The parameters of breeding selection upon creation of starting material for confectionery hybrids were specified. Donors of large achenes have been identified. Work aimed at increasing the seed productivity of existing female forms, improving their economic characteristics, and creating new lines - sterile analogues and simple sterile combinations (parents of confectionery hybrids) was accomplished. The five-year plan on creating scientific and technical products to be delivered to the employer has been fulfilled. Hybrids Atlet, Forsazh, Hudvin and Nasoloda; line - sterility fixer Kh 51 B; line - pollen fertility restorer Kh 2301 V and line - pollen fertility restorer Kh 2283 V were included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine. It is recommended to continue testing hybrid Kosmos, line Skh 66 A and line Skh 146 A in authorized institutions. High-oleic line Skh 17 A was submitted to qualifying evaluation in authorized institutions. Work on seed production and introduction into production of confectionery hybrids was conducted. In 2016-2020, seed crops occupied as follows: group bags - 0.5 ha; plots of female component reproduction - 5 ha; hybridization plots - 13 ha.
