Registration Date 08-01-2021 Organization Insninute of plant physiology and genetics popup.description2 It is substantiated that one of the directions of selection and genetic improvement of crop yields is to increase the activity of the photosynthetic apparatus, accelerate the development of the assimilation surface of plants in the early stages of ontogenesis and long-term preservation of its functional activity in the reproductive period. It is established that during the period of vegetative growth the rapid formation of a high leaf area index of canopy of new varieties of winter wheat Astarta, Darunok Podillya, Horodnytsia and line UK065 created in IFRG NAS of Ukraine increases the efficiency of solar radiation, which provides their yield advantage. The role of ontogenetic changes in the content of RuBisCO in the flag leaf in the regulation of photosynthesis intensity was clarified. It was shown for the first time that the preservation of high photosynthetic activity during grain filling in modern high-yielding varieties of winter wheat is ensured by maintaining a higher nitrogen content and slower destruction of RuBisCO in the leaf. It was found that the accumulation of a significant amount of RuBisCO in young leaves is more associated with nitrogen deposition than with the needs of photosynthetic assimilation of CO2. Short-term soil drought in the flowering phase has been shown to inhibit current photosynthetic activity, as well as induce aging associated with photosynthetic degradation, rapid depletion of chlorophyll and RuBisCO, loss of photoassimilation activity, and leaf death. It was found that varieties with a genetically determined sign of delayed aging of the photosynthetic apparatus (remontance) show higher drought resistance due to long-term preservation of the assimilative activity of the leaves.  Product Description popup.authors Bondarenko Oksana Yu.
