The purpose of the work is to create a formulation of reactive type fire retardant coating with increased fire retardant properties for fire protection of strategic objects, where fire can occur according to a hydrocarbon scenario. Research methods: determination of rheological properties of paint according to Brookfield; IR spectroscopy; thermogravimetric and elemental analysis. A formulation of the intumescent composition of ammonium polyphosphate/melamine/pentaerythritol/epoxy copolymer with enhanced fire retardant properties for hydrocarbon fire conditions has been created. Fire tests of the fire resistance of steel plates in a hydrocarbon fire conditions have carried out. It has been found that in terms of fire resistance limit R, the developed coating is competitive among similar fire protection means that are present in Ukraine. A technological scheme for the production of reactive type fire retardant composition for hydrocarbon fire conditions has been developed. The scientific significance of the research lies in the development of theoretical approaches and the application of scientific concepts, results for the design of fire retardant building materials for fire protection of strategic objects. The practical significance of the work is due to the fact that the fire retardant intumescent compositions considered in this study can be used as the basis for formulations of fire protection for building structures in hydrocarbon fire conditions.
