We obtained an analytical expression for the POVM of the nanowire detectors that takes into account the flexible dead time. This expression is fundamental for the interpretation of experimental results obtained by the continuous wave method, where the influence of previous measurements is significant. Photocounting statistics was obtained for typical states: coherent state, Fock state and squeezed vacuum. It is shown that photocounting statistics obtained by nanowire detectors is radically different from the statistics obtained by ideal detectors. We develop a strict theoretical description of the propagation of light in quantum regimes through a turbulent atmosphere over long distances. Using the photon density function method, we obtained an expression for the fourth-order correlation function for optical fields in the atmosphere and for the aperture-averaged scintillation index for long-distance channels. We compared the obtained values with the available experimental data. It is shown that the method of the photon density function is applicable to the description of long-distance channels.
