Purpose - To obtain an animal model of cardiac pathology in experimental type 1 diabetes mellitus, to investigate markers of systemic oxidative stress, oxidative heart and liver damage and signs of ultrastructural liver damage in the development of experimental diabetes mellitus. Research methods - modeling of cardiac pathology in the development of experimental diabetes mellitus, biochemical methods for determining markers of oxidative stress and structural damage to organs, electron microscopic studies of the ultrastructure of organ tissues. Conclusions - an animal model of streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetes was tested. Signs of systemic stress and imbalance of the pro-antioxidant system in the heart and liver were revealed. It is shown that the development of streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetes mellitus is accompanied by structural and functional changes in the studied organs.
