ADAPTATION, HETEROCHRONY, EVOLUTION, ONTOGENESIS, PHYLOGENY, VRTEBRATES. The object of study - model objects, representatives of several groups of vertebrates. The aim of the work is to identify and quantify the evolutionary mechanisms that caused the adaptive changes of vertebrates in aquatic, terrestrial and aerial environments on the example of several model groups. Research methods - micro- and macroscopic methods of preparation, morphometry, comparative method. For the analysis of the received materials - statistical methods. The aim of the study is to identify and quantify the evolutionary mechanisms that caused the adaptive changes of vertebrates in aquatic, terrestrial and air environments on the example of several model groups. The work covers the study of the mechanisms of evolution; morphology and probable way of life of ancestral forms; clarification of taxonomy and phylogeny; comparative-anatomical, functional-anatomical and comparative-embryological studies of model groups, with specification of data on their way of life and behavior. Based on the results, a series of articles was prepared, in which new data and generalizations on morphology, ontogenesis, ecology and evolution of the studied groups of vertebrates were presented.
