[3, 6, 16]. According to the prevalence criteria defined for RA, about 1% of the planets population is ill, and taking into account the criterion of «possible» up to 2,5% among men and 5,2% among women. The disease is recorded in all countries of the world and in all climatic and geographical areas. In general, women get sick in 3­5, and according to some data ­ 9 times more often. The disease can start at any age, but marked growth disease incidence of RA seems in older population. The inci-dence peak is between 40 and 50 years of age and persists up to 70 years. Five years after the onset of the disease, up to 60% of patients lose their ability to work, and after 20 years ­ 90%, among them 35% of patients become disabled. Within 5 years of the disease affects about 30% of the joints, within 20 years ­ 50%. Accord-ing to WHO, the spread of rheumatic diseases among the world population is up to 1,0%. There are about 118,000 RA patients in Ukraine, of whom about 54,000 are in working age and are under clinical supervision. According to the State Statistical Report of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for 2013, the incidence rate among the able-bodied population was 15.2 per 100 thousand population (in absolute terms, 4226 cases). According to various authors [1, 4, 67, 68, 81, 85], the affection of the knee joints in patients with RA is observed from 10% to 30% for up to 5 years from the onset of the disease. Damage of the knee joints in RA is accompanied by the formation of contractures and the development of discordant deformities of the lower extremities, which, in turn, lead to partial or complete loss of limb function.
