Ways to increase the operational stability of railway wheels are investigated. Alloying systems have been developed with a fundamentally new method of strengthening steel for railway wheels - refractory dispersed phase. Modes of smelting steels of different chemical composition for railway wheels have been worked out. The smelting of experimental melts with different content of alloying elements, including nitrogen, was carried out. The positive effect of the experimental chemical composition on the indicators of viscosity and ductility at slightly lower strength and hardness in comparison with high-strength steel grade T, standardized by DSTU GOST 10791-2016. The influence of the duration of high-temperature endurance and cooling rates during heat treatment on the change of the structural state and hardness of the experimental steels is investigated. Modes of heat treatment of experimental steels are developed, which provide a high level of hardness of samples. Recommendations on ways to increase the operational reliability of railway wheels, proposals for alloying systems of steels for railway wheels with reduced carbon content, which increase their operational reliability, durability, resistance to the formation of operational defects based on comparative studies of operational and delivery properties of railway wheels on steel samples of different chemical composition. Recommendations on the chemical composition of steel and technological parameters of heat treatment for railway wheels in industrial production conditions are issued. Technical conditions for production in the conditions of PJSC "INTERPIPE NTZ" of experimental and industrial batch of wheels for operational tests on the experimental route of Ukrzaliznytsia are developed.
