The purpose of the study - to study the effect of the width of the caliber stream on the change of mechanical properties of the metal, changes in the width of the caliber stream in terms of changing the proportion of deformations in diameter in the total deformation, . As a result of experimental researches it is established that alternating deformation of cross sections of a working cone with alternation of schemes of a stress state of metal at cold pilger rolling can considerably influence use of a resource of mechanical properties of deformed metal. It is established that in order to minimize the tensile stresses and increase the accuracy of the finished pipes, the deformation regime for cold pile rolling of pipes should be designed with a variable type of caliber along the length of the working cone. The dependence for the calculation of the caliber width according to the method of proportional compression has been improved. The dependence takes into account the change in the magnitude of the linear displacement and involves the use of a narrower caliber, which increases the accuracy of the finished pipes.
