It was examined 556 CW of 1986–1987 with CHD and 204 non-irradiated men of the control group (CG) with CHD. It was determined that in CW the vast majority of new CHD cases were diagnosed during the first 20 years after the accident, and in CG between 20 and 30 years. After emergency works signs of significant coronary atherosclerosis (SCA) appeared in CW 2.2 years earlier than in CG. Quantitative assessment of comorbidity by the CIRS scale showed that in CW the course of comorbid pathology was more difficult for each system and in general what higher values of total CIRS score reflected. In CW and CG with SCA 20–34 years after the accident, the left ventricle (LV) volumes and their indices were increased. The relative number of individuals with elevated LV volume indices did not change much. Already in the first 10 years the average values of LV wall thickness were higher than in more than half of CW. After 30 years, wall thickening was detected in more than 80% of patients. The relative number of CW with enlarged LV volumes, increased indices and decreased myocardial contractility increased with each year, remaining probably more in CW with SCA than with CA only. The proportion of CW with SCA and concentric LV hypertrophy (LVH) gradually decreased, but with eccentric LVH increased. The presence of CHD with SCA was accompanied by a decrease in the telomere length, expressed more in CW. It was found the negative impact of both risk factors in the anamnesis and indicators of clinical condition as angina pectoris and heart failure. A closed inverse correlation was established between the relative telomere length and LV remodeling parameters. Product Description popup.authors Ilienko Iryna M.
