It was shown that the use of a step-by-step regime of nitriding with subsequent polishing of the nitrided surface of titanium BT1-0 for surface hardening allows to decrease the wear of the UHMWPE component by more than two orders of magnitude and the friction coefficient by 6 times. It was determined that regularities of Н/Е change depending on the nitriding regime of titanium correlate with the value of wear of UHMWPE component in the friction pair of nitrided titanium BT1-0/UHMWPE, so they can be used for express evaluation of the efficiency of tribocoupling. It was determined that the technology of surface treatment of spherical head of titanium for endoprosthesis of the hip joint allows to obtain the hinge joint nitrided titanium BT1-0/UHMWPE, the resource of which exceeds the resource of the pair Со-Сr-Мо/UHMWPE.
