Purpose: to give a detailed description of the state of natural complexes of the Emerald Network of the Middle Dnieper, to identify typical and unique for this region natural complexes by studying the species and coenotic diversity of the most important groups of biota in the region; monitoring the status of populations of some rare and background species of Kaniv Nature Reserve. Research methods: field research (route-floristic, geobotanical, population) distribution and ecology of rare and background species of animals and plants in the Middle Dnieper region, phytoindication methods, comparative analysis of literature sources, methods of mathematical statistics. A comprehensive field study of the state of model populations of rare species of flora and fauna, phytocenoses and introduced species in the Middle Dnieper region was conducted within the Cherkasy, Poltava and Kyiv regions. The state of populations of protected species of vascular plants of the flora of the Kaniv Nature Reserve has been studied. New places of growth of rare plant species in the region have been identified. Based on the determination of the absolute height of the surface above sea level of the coastal areas of the cenopopulation of Amorpha fruticosa in the basins of the Kaniv HPP, the influence of the hydroelectric power plant on the distribution of this invasive species is shown. The conditions of existence, taxonomic composition and structural and functional organization of zooperiphyton under the influence of regulated runoff by Kaniv HPP in the lower reaches are estimated. New species have been established as part of the reserve's avifauna. The rapid growth of Columba oenas and Lanius excubitor, which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, is shown.
