In the Kharkiv region, more patients with epilepsy have a psychiatric diagnosis than in Transcarpathia, as well as in comparison with world statistics. The leading psychopathological manifestation of epilepsy is intellectual and mnestic decline and organic personality pathology. Mental disorders are more common in patients with a high frequency of seizures. The most widely used antiepileptic drug is carbamazepine, followed by valproate. Unjustifiably large number of patients receive barbiturates, especially in Transcarpathia. The part of new generation AED has more than doubled, but is still insufficient. A statistical portrait and profiles of patients with epilepsy with different frequency of seizures were created. The prevalence of epileptic forms and types of seizures significantly depends on the frequency of seizures. The frequency of appointments of barbiturates, valproate and phenytoin is positively correlated with the frequency of attacks both in the past and now. The frequency of attacks has the greatest impact on the depth of work and domestic maladaptation. The total cost of the disease has been established. The largest share of costs is indirect costs (73%). Mental disorders, especially dementia, have the greatest impact on costs. Hospitalized people have higher costs for the disease than outpatients.
