Purpose: the study of regularities and selection of rational modes of sludge dehydration process in settling screw centrifuges with the use of chemical reinforcement of aggregation of polydisperse sludges by flocculants. Research methods are based on the use of physical and mathematical modeling of the studied processes. The result is a study of the effect of solid-phase concentration of model sludges of wet gas purification and flocculant consumption on the change of solid-phase sedimentation rate and floccule strength, as well as the efficiency of solid-phase retention and dehydration of fine products of the coal processing plant and metallurgical enterprise. The following results are new: for the first time it was established that the humidity of the sludge and the efficiency of solid-phase retention depends on the residual rate of deposition of flocs after mechanical action before the dewatering equipment; based on this result, a method of technological tests was developed to optimize the supply of flocculant depending on the concentration of the solid phase; the technique of selection of working parameters of the equipment based on the definition of the durability of flocs is offered.
