The content of insulin, insulin-like growth factors (IGF) in the blood serum of patients with papillary thyroid cancer. Purpose: to enhance the effectiveness of treating PTC patients with insulin resistance via developing technologies for customized comprehensive antineoplastic treatment using metformin. Methods and equipment: clinical-instrumental, immunoenzymometric, radiometric, dosimetric, statistical; enzyme-immunoassay analyzer Immunochem-2100, dosimeter-radiometer-MKS «Tera». Theoretical and practical outcomes: it has been figured out that the group of PTC patients with insulin resistance show higher insulin levels in comparison with the group without insulin resistance. The study made it possible to ascertain, that in the blood serum of patients with papillary thyroid cancer, i.e. IGF-1 content in 63% of patients and IFG-2 content in 85% of patients was significantly higher than in the control group. Novelty: new data on the incidence of insulin resistance in PTC patients at the stages of comprehensive antineoplastic treatment have been obtained. The relationship between the insulin-like growth factor-1 content, insulin-like growth factor-2, and higher insulin levels in the blood serum of PTC patients, suggesting a potential liability to aggressive disease course has been defined.
