Among the patients referred from the regions contaminated with radionuclides, B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) accounts for the major proportion of cases in males and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) – in females. Furthermore, the positive dynamics of the increase in myelodysplastic syndromes in the patients from the contaminated regions was registered. The analysis of the distribution of clinico-prognostic AML variants in the patients of the "adult" age-group and in the patients who were born in 1982-1986 demonstrated the predominance of the variants originating from the transformed cells of myelomonocytic lineage. This fact supports the existence of the common pathogenetic mechanism for the realization of the effects of the low doses of ionizing radiation in the origin of AML. The comparison of the proportions of the certain forms of the hematological malignancies in Chernobyl clean-up workers and in the cohort of the Japanese patients demonstrated the significant percentage of B-CLL among the patients in the cohort of clean-up workers. Taking into account the data on the predominance of B-CLL in the adult patients from the regions of Ukraine contaminated with radionuclides, our findings are in line with the concept of the radiogenic nature of B-CLL that we have suggested earlier.
