The aim of the research is to create new highly productive, highly adapted to adverse biotic and abiotic environmental factors varieties of hazelnuts and walnuts by artificial hybridization and selection of hybrid fund created in the institution and comprehensive economic and biological assessment of promising and elite forms. Research methods: field, laboratory-field, laboratory. The selection task for hazelnuts is performed by purposeful artificial sexual hybridization, cultivation and study of hybrid seedlings, selection of promising and elite forms and their reproduction; on a walnut - studying of hybrid seedlings, selection of perspective forms and their reproduction. Artificial hybridization of hazelnuts within 51 combinations of crossing was carried out. A total of 8870 flowers were pollinated, 254 hybrid seedlings were grown. The hybrid fund of hazelnuts is 670 seedlings, walnuts - 112 pieces. In 2020, an application was submitted to the Ukrainian Institute of Plant Variety Examination of the Ministry of Economy for inclusion in the Register of Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine for the Favorit Hazelnut and Bogatyr Walnut Varieties. The creation of industrial plantations of hazelnuts and walnuts will provide the confectionery industry with valuable products and increase the profitability of nut production by 160-180%.
