The research subject is a complex of ethnocultural processes in Ukraine from the mid-1980s to the present time. The purpose of the research is to describe and characterize by the means of Ukrainian studies the most important ethnocultural processes in Ukraine in the context of their transformation in the late XX – early XXI centuries. The research is based on the complex, interdisciplinary, systematic approaches, using methodological tools of Ukrainian studies, the objectivity principle, historical methods and methods of social approach and alternative, which enables us to comprehensively characterize the ethnocultural processes that have taken place in Ukraine for more than three decades and to establish their historical preconditions and connection with other spheres of the Ukrainian society as well. In the research we made an attempt to systematize, supplement, synthesize and reconsider our knowledge about ethnocultural processes from the point of view of socio-historical challenges that have arisen or aggravated in recent times in front of Ukraine. The research contains the first theoretical model of changes in approaches to scientific knowledge of ethno-cultural processes, as well as ethnocultural development of Ukraine from 1985 to today. Theoretical and practical results: the concept of ethnocultural processes in Ukraine (from 1985); the analysis of changes in the main vector of ethnocultural processes throughout period reviewed; characteristics of factors affecting the preservation and development of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar ethnocultural identity; the analysis of distinctive features of ethnocultural processes in the Ukrainian society in the conditions of informatization, globalization and Ukraine’s integration into international European and Euro-Atlantic organizations.
