The purpose of the work is to determine the optimal parameters for effective wastewater treatment in food production. Research methods are experimental and analytical. In the course of the research work, experimental studies of wastewater treatment and disinfection were carried out using methods based on the use of natural oxidants such as oxygen, ozone, hydrogen peroxide. The combination of these methods - Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) produces a synergistic effect, due to which there is a deep oxidation of substances contained in wastewater from food production and are difficult to decompose. The combination of these methods with biosorption allows to increase the effect of purification and disinfection of wastewater and reduce the processing time. The studies were carried out on simulated and real wastewater containing high concentrations of animal proteins, fats and hydrocarbons. The efficiency of purification in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD) reached (97- 98)%, disinfection - up to 100%. Monitoring studies of the water body were carried out, where insufficiently treated wastewater from food industry enterprises is discharged. Hydrochemical, hydrophysical, hydrobiological and microbiological indicators of water quality in different parts of the reservoir have been determined. It has been established that, according to the degree of saprobity and trophicity, the river in the wastewater discharge zone is classified as hypertrophic and polysaprobic.
