Harmful and toxic substances in the school chemistry course have become an everyday phenomenon that both adults and children face every minute. Therefore, the main goal of the study is to develop a methodology for the formation of environmental literacy aimed at adaptation and socialization without excessive alarmism and chemophobia of a young person in the world of chemicals and materials from which toys, food, cosmetics, household items, clothing and so on are made. Experimentally test the influence of the developed methodology on the quality of assimilation of program material and the level of formation of concepts of Applied Chemistry as elements of environmental literacy of students. The analysis of the theory of formation and development of models of formation of a healthy lifestyle is made and the directions of activity of pedagogical education in the formation of environmental literacy health-saving competence and healthy human life are determined. A methodological system for forming the concepts of harmful and toxic substances in primary school chemistry classes and elective classes has been developed. The curriculum of the optional lesson «Applied Chemistry» has been prepared. The certificate program "chemistry around us" has been prepared and approved by the Academic Council of the university as an additional educational service for Chemistry students and teachers.
