The purpose of the research is to identify the features of spatio-temporal changes of soils and soil formation factors in key areas of Ukraine at different stages of the Pleistocene and Holocene depending on the natural conditions of the past. The object of the study are Pleistocene and Holocene soils and soil rocks within the territory of Ukraine, which are paleogeographic documents of the state of nature in the past. The subject of the study is the change of natural conditions in certain stages of the Pleistocene and the chronological intervales of Holocene, recorded in properties and the peculiarities of Quaternary deposits in key areas. On the basis of new factual and analytical materials on the study of Pleistocene and Holocene soils and soil rocks, with the active use of micromorphological analysis, the method of studying changes in the natural conditions of the past has been improved. New data were obtained in the process of field research. The influence of separate components of nature (as factors of ancient pedogenesis) on soil formation processes is estimated, separate regional maps of different ages of soil covers are constructed and the history of soils development in separate stages of Pleistocene and Holocene in key areas of modern territory of the Ukraine.
