As a result of the first stage of work, luminescent Ag2S quantum dots were synthesized. It was found that the obtained semiconductor nanoparticles are characterized by an absorption maximum at a wavelength of 440 nm. The photoluminescence spectra are typical for Ag2S quantum dots, synthesized by "green" synthesis. Depending on the excitation, the luminescence maxima correspond to the wavelengths of 450-480 nm. In addition, analysis of synthesized quantum dots was performed using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Ag2S semiconductor nanoparticles have a homogeneous, spherical morphology, have no surface defects and have a size in the range of 5-15 nm. A study of the genotoxic effects of synthesized Ag2S quantum dots on plant cells was performed (Allium test) during 2020. Among all the studied concentrations of Ag2S nanoparticles, treatment of onion seeds with 1.5 mg/mL resulted in a significant number of dinuclear cells. The remaining concentrations showed no significant genotoxic effects. Phytotoxicity was assessed on tobacco protoplasts of N. tabacum L. The survival rate of protoplasts under the influence of different concentrations of silver-containing quantum dots remained quite high in the range of 82-92%. Thus, as a result of the first stage of the research project, Ag2S quantum dots were synthesized using a plant hairy root culture of Linaria maroccana. It is important to note, that we have shown the possibility of forming of Ag2S quantum dots using this plant for the first time Their physicochemical and geno and phytotoxic properties have been studied.
