The research object is single crystal and glassy Li2B4O7 (LTB) and MgB4O7 (MTB) activated by transitional and RE elements. The research goal is to develop physicochemical fundamentals for obtaining ternary borates activated by transitional and RE elements and to study optical properties of the obtained borates. Research methods are XRD, XRL, TSL, optical spectroscopy, profilometry. The samples have been obtained for the Cu and Mn activated compositions of the LTB–MTB section in the crystalline state, for LTB:Ag single crystals, for glassy LTB:Tb and LTB:Er and for Cu6PS5I, Cu6PSe5I, Cu7GeS5I films. The effects of increasing the XRL intensity accompanied by the intensity redistribution between individual peaks have been found for the samples of the Cu and Mg activated intermediate compositions of the LTB–MTB section; the redistribution of the TSL intensity in favor of the low-temperature peaks has also been found, which indicates the concentration redistribution of the impurity defects in favor of the trap centers of low activation energy. Using various methods, the kinetic parameters of the dosimetric peak of LTB:Ag single crystal were determined and the obtained results were compared. It has been established that Cu6PS5I, Cu6PSe5I, Cu7GeS5I compounds films can be used in manufacturing the X-ray sensors. The Raman spectra of glassy LTB:Tb and LTB:Er were studied. The oscillation modes were identified, and the parameters of the bands detected in the Raman spectra were determined. The effects of hybridization of the orbit of the Tb3+ and Er3+ ions with a disordered matrix and the matrix clustering. The technologies have been developed for mechanical treatment of single crystal and glassy LTB samples.
