The method of determining the resistance of potato breeding material to cancer of Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilbersky) Pers. in the laboratory when infecting potatoes with winter zoospores of the pathogen. An experiment was conducted to determine the resistance of potato breeding material to cancer of Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilbersky) Pers. in the laboratory. Potato tubers were infected with winter zoospores in the substrate soil / perlite). Affected potato samples were recorded after 60 days according to the Ukrainian method, and after 75 days according to the European method. The results of the research showed that out of 48 infected samples of potatoes, only 2 were affected by the pathogen and when the records were taken after 60 and 75 days. 2. The method of determining the resistance of potatoes to cancer by infecting potato samples with summer zoospores from fresh cancer growths has been improved. When determining the degree of resistance was determined on a European five-point scale from 48 samples, and only 2 samples were evaluated for susceptibility to cancer. 3. Varieties that can serve as sources of resistance to common and aggressive pathogens of cancer are identified. It is advisable to involve them in the selection process as sources of cancer resistance: Aria, Basis, Bozhedar, Glazurna, Santarka, Solokha, Rodinna, Sluch, Strumok, and Khortytsia are resistant to all cancer pathotypes; Knyaginya, Kalinovskaya, Cimmeria and Chervona Ruta are resistant to three types of cancer; Volodarka, Myroslava, Oberig, Tiras, Partner, Mystery and Sontsedar are resistant to two types of cancer. From varieties of potatoes of foreign selection are offered varieties: Bella Rossa, Gitte, Barbara, UMO 101117, UMO 101155. These varieties are recommended for use by breeders in the selection process as sources of disease resistance and for introduction into the foci of potato cancer in the western region of Ukraine.
