The aim of the study was to evaluate the existing infant feeding practices (retrospectively) using parental survey data in the context of modern evidence-based recommendations. The anonymous parental survey was conducted with the participation of random sampling of parents, they were asked to answer questions about child’s growth and psychomotor development, feeding practices, history of diseases and vaccinations, etc. There were 168 completed questionnaires totally. In the cohort at the age of 1 year 11,9 % children had a risk of overweight and obesity. A sufficient prevalence and duration of breastfeeding was revealed, however, more than a third of children received water from the first months of life, what means not exclusive, but predominant breastfeeding. The complementary feeding was introduced mostly in time, so at the age of 9-12 months infants’ menu was quite diversified. However, the first supplementary food products in most children were not iron fortified, so anemia was found in 14,3% of children. Children often received foods, drinks, and ingredients not recommended for babies. The increased content of easily digestible carbohydrates was probably one of the causes of overweight in children. Almost a third of infants aged 1 year did not acquire the skills of chewing food in pieces and did not receive finger food. The study revealed lack of consultation support from medical staff to parents, which requires upgrade of pre-graduated and post-graduated doctor’s education in the field of infant feeding consulting skills.
