The research subject is economic relations arising in the process of generation, transportation, distribution and consumption of energy from renewable energy sources. The purpose of the research is to improve the economic support scheme for renewable energy deployment based on green auctions and other organizational and economic mechanisms for sustainable development of the industry in business and residential sectors in order to ensure Ukraine’s energy security under conditions of energy fluctuations and challenges caused by global (in particular, pandemic COVID-19) and local threats. Research methods: factor, statistical analysis, main components method, stochastic factor analysis (statistical dependences of time series); methods of economic and mathematical modeling and forecasting (Baxter-King, Hodrick-Prescott, and Butterworth band-pass filters). Methodological approaches to the identification and forecasting of the key drivers’ impact on energy efficient development of national economies in the context of global and local threats have been improved. The methodology of assessing and forecasting the level of energy security of the national economy was improved by taking into account the decoupling index of the financial burden of renewable energy on the state budget, the decoupling index of energy efficiency, the households’ energy poverty indicator, the index of capacities’ development for electricity balancing in the Unified Energy System of Ukraine and the indicator of energy fluctuations. The interaction mechanisms between energy and economic security of the national economy were substantiated.
