The elements of the selection method for breeding spring varieties with increased heat and drought resistance have been improved. To create a new breeding material, the selection of elite plants, future new varieties, was carried out on spring and winter hybrid populations in F3, F4, and F5. During 2016-2020, 11 varieties of different types of plant development were submitted for state variety testing: 2016 - Hetman Sagaidachny, a variety of typical winter barley, Skarb Pal’miry, a winter barley variety of alternative plant development, Gordist’ Pal’miry, a variety of naked winter barley alternative, Graal’, a variety of spring barley with unique brewing properties, Tamango, a variety of spring barley for growing in extremely arid conditions; 2017 - Nadiyny, variety of spring barley; 2018 - Alternno, ultra-early variety of winter barley of alternative type of plant development; 2019 - Istr, a variety of spring barley, Svarog, a variety of spring barley; 2020 - Evolutsiya, Galateya - varieties of winter barley with an alternative type of plant development. According to the results of the study of varieties in the system of state testing received certificates of state registration of plant varieties: Tamango (certificate №190688 dated 06.02.2019), Graal’ (certificate №190691 dated 13.02.2019), Skarb Pal’miry (certificate № 200531 dated 27.02 .2020), Gordist’ Pal’miry (certificate № 200532 dated 27.02.2020), Nadiyny (certificate № 200535 dated 27.02.2020).
