The purpose of the study is to highlight the main approaches and results of the development of the first in Ukraine interactive atlas "Population of Ukraine and its natural and cultural heritage." The main task of its creation is to provide modern information and knowledge about the historical stages of development of the population of Ukraine as a subject of natural and cultural heritage and to identify patterns and features of its formation, type, distribution and functioning. The following approaches and principles were used in the research process: the principle of historicism, which provided a reflection of the interaction of the population and the heritage of the dynamics of space and time; the principle of systematization and complexity, which ensured the study of heritage as a territorial system whose components are the natural environment, population, socio-cultural environment and directly the objects of heritage. These principles are supplemented by sectoral approaches: geographical, historical, environmental, socio-economic, cultural, etc. The result is a new cartographic product containing 4 gigabytes of various information that can be focused on 98 vector maps, texts and photographs. The scientific concept of the Atlas, classification and systematization of research objects, substantiation and use of methods of geoinformation mapping are developed, which is an important contribution to the development of thematic cartography. The main technological solutions are to use a framework of satin solutions containing 8 patterns and a framework of architecture of the Atlas, which combines all the patterns. The atlas according to the developed conceptual approaches corresponds to the modern level of scientific knowledge in the field of geographical cartography, and according to technological decisions is at the level of world developments.
