The generation of ICC rhythm is due to the characteristic mechanisms of intracellular Ca2+ regulation, which include calcium-dependent channels, pumps, and exchangers located in the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and mitochondria. Previously it has been shown that mutations, overexpression and genetic destruction of plasma membrane calcium ATPase pumps (PMCA) cause dysfunction of these and other cells. At this stage of work, the effects of overexpression and hyperactivity of PMCA on the generation of ICC pacemaker rhythm were investigated on a computer biophysical model of ICC.
