The project is aimed to study the impact of constructed and planned wind power plants (WPPs) and solar power plants (SPPs) on the herpetobiont fauna within the steppe zone of Ukraine. The goals of the first stage of the research were: to study the representation of already constructed and planned WPPs and SPPs within the steppe zone of Ukraine; to evaluate the degree of study of herpetobiont fauna within the areas where WPPs and SPPs have been built, or whether their construction is planned; to process the collected materials, analyze them and summarize the intermediate results. As a result of the first stage of the project, a map of ground SPPs of Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia Regions was created. Their area and the type of vegetation in the places of their construction were determined. Furthermore, the places of further research were chosen based on the obtained data, analysis of literature sources and the results of the expedition. Original data on the rare insect species, including herpetobionts, recorded within the framework of the Sivashska WPP and its vicinity before the start of the active phase of construction, have been prepared for publication. In order to find the additional original rare indicator species of herpetobionts (primarily insects) from the territories of SPPs and WPPs and adjacent areas, a part of the collection of the National Museum of Natural History of the NAS of Ukraine was analyzed, also a number of literature sources and documents on environmental impact assessment for WPPs were analyzed. The report provides original data on the records of rare insects (including herpetobionts), primarily included in the IUCN Red and / or Red Data Book of Ukraine from the territory of Sivashska WPP and its immediate surroundings before the active phase of construction.
