Subject: Sociocultural (first of all, ethnic, historical, cultural, social, everyday) conditions of emerging conflict situations in the Ukrainian society. Objective: To shape the contextual interpretation of the 20th-century historical experience in today's sociopolitical conditions and to define correlations between existing conflicts and crises of the past; to create a theoretical model for preventing and overcoming the consequences of conflict phenomena at the level of everyday practices and intercultural communication. Methods: Ethnographic and oral historical methods (a complex of field methods: historical and comparative, systematic analyses, method of sociolinguistics and narrative analysis. The chronological method used in the research enables the consideration of the studied material in the historical dynamics. Results and their novelty: historical and socioanthropological contexts of the emergence of the conflict of identities, which was expressed in the social and political crisis in Ukraine in recent years, are studied; schemes of interpretation and methods of analyzing cultural communication models and interethnic interaction in modern society are offered. The manifestation of the phenomenon of identity in various aspects of community life - traditional food, ethnic customs, public policy, education - is analyzed; research among representatives of Ukrainian society is conducted with focus on the model of adaptation and overcoming modern conflict situations; the adaptation of different categories of migrants in contemporary Ukrainian society is defined. The "civil war" as a concept of political philosophy, developed through the Ukrainian political situation in 2014 and the military confrontation in Donbass, is studied; the scenario of "civil war" imposed from the outside is reconstructed by means of non-classical political theory.
