New protocols (temperature programs) were developed for amplification of mitochondrial genes COI, ND1 and 12S, and nuclear genes 28S and 18S. The methods of molecular phylogenetics were used to determine the phylogenetic relationships of Antarctic fish parasites, monogeneans, crustaceans and leeches, and to describe a new species for science, the Antarctic deep-sea leech Pterobdellina vernadskyi, which parasitizes the commercial Antarctic toothfish. DNA barcoding of Antarctic bacteria was carried out and their phylogenetic relationships were revealed. A voucher collection of ectoparasites of Antarctic fish was created. New information on the distribution of heavy metals and other pollutants in underwater landscapes near Galindez Island was obtained.
