Support and Upgrades of the LHCb Detector Subsystems popup.stage_title Head Levchuk Leonid H., Кандидат фізико-математичних наук Registration Date 06-02-2021 Organization National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" popup.description2 Further successful operation has been provided for the T2_UA_KIPT Tier-2 center of the Grid infrastructure of the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Within the timeframe set by the CMS, a wide spectrum of upgrades for this computing facility has been carried out, and a high quality of its operation was provided in 2020. The total amount of information obtained in the CMS experiment and transferred (only by means the PhEDEx system) to the T2_UA_KIPT for processing has reached more than 18 Petabytes, what exceeds the T2_UA_KIPT storage capacity by factor of ~20. The T2_UA_KIPT operation in 2020 has been accounted for by the CMS as 6 FTE months of the contribution to the experiment, what is a satisfactory result. A lot of work was performed on the physics analysis of the CMS data – viz., a search for the supersymmetry (SUSY) signal (the direct chargino pair production) was continued based on the analysis of samples of proton-proton collisions at the LHC energy of 13 TeV registered in the CMS experiment in 2016-18. Signal region optimization was accomplished allowing us to extend substantially the exclusion range for masses of the SUSY particles being searched for, compared to our earlier results. Within the program of the support and upgrades of the CMS detector endcap calorimetry, studies were continued on the impact of the dose rate on the radiation resistance of the SCSN-81 and EJ-260 scintillator samples, when irradiating them by bremsstrahlung photons at the NSC KIPT electron Linac with the beam energy of 10 MeV. A method of varying the irradiation dose rate by means of screening lead plates was applied, with manufacturing the corresponding structure and performing preliminary measurements in such a layout.
